What an atmosphere, what a quality, what an excitement….CGN's first full competition season came to a wonderful climax last Saturday in Eindhoven. Thousands of people, audiences, members, judges, instructors, volunteers and CGN staff were able to enjoy this season's best shows in an almost sold-out house. CGN is vibrant, alive and has a great future, as these championships proved.
We were treated to beautiful shows with themes that we recognize, cheerfulness but also social themes. Participants from very young to very experienced, who have covered many hundreds of kilometers to put on their best show on this day. The audience in attendance applauded all groups because that's what they deserve and the CGN audience fully appreciates that! Almost 60 participants with more than 80 performances from five countries. An international jury from four countries and a large group of CGN volunteers consisting of the people who managed the logistics of the day, but also the media team consisting of photographers and the CGN Video Vault who ensure that all performances are recorded on camera and can viewed. In all disciplines and classes it was very exciting until the last moment and that means an unprecedented tension during the award ceremony. That award ceremony is something for all participants and audience, which is difficult to describe. You must have experienced this. On that floor, the connection between all groups can be seen and felt. Of course, all emotions are released then, joy, disappointment but also just from the tension. It all comes together in a great party on the floor after all prizes, awards, champion flags and medals have been handed out. Performers, parents, family all come together on that floor and then you see what CGN means with its mission: 'Connecting and developing people through dance and music'.
